Alternative Rio Live! Human Rights Violations at the Olympics
WITNESS Media Lab created the Alternative Rio Live! site to test out how to better curate across a diverse issue landscape of eyewitness media and particularly live video that bring to light the alternative realities of human rights violations related to the Summer Games in Rio. We’ve been using Deepstream, Crowdvoice and Timeline to do this.
Our Alternative Rio Live focuses on contextualizing and presenting the eyewitness accounts and the live-streams that show the stark alternative realities of human rights violations underlying and occurring at the Summer Olympics 2016 in Rio. Via these media, international audiences tuning into the Olympics can also understand and directly experience alternative voices and realities and journalists can have a ready, source of current contextualized eyewitness and live-stream content.
